Finding a student organization is easy! A current list of all active Registered Student Organizations is available on OrgSync. If you see one that you are interested in, click on the "On" button. You'll be able to find contact info for the President or other representatives of the organization to connect with to get more information. Another great way to find organizations is to attend Campus Life Night in the fall or winter.

There's a variety of ways to get involved at GVSU. It all depends on how you want to get involved. To get involved with community service and leadership opportunities visit the Community Service Learning Center (CSLC). Planning an event is one of the best experiences at GVSU. Stop by the Office of Student Life and ask for Event Services or give them a call at (616) 331-2350. You can also visit the Event Services website or check out room reservations to start planning your event.

How do I find volunteer & community service opportunities?

Visit the Community Service Learning Center (CSLC) for a wide range of opportunities to serve as an individual or with a group, one-time or long-term opportunities, and much more!

How do I track my volunteer, community service, and philanthropic experiences?

Record your experiences on Service Tracker. Visit the Community Service Learning Center's (CSLC) page for information and resources that will aid you in reporting your service experiences and building your service portfolio.

How do I plan a community service opportunity for my group?

Start by contacting the student consultants at the Community Service Learning Center (CSLC). They are trained to help groups explore options and connect with an opportunity.

How do I develop my leadership skills and abilities?

Participate in any of our Leadership Development programming which includes programs such as First Year Leadership Experience (FYLE), Strengths Leadership Series, Immediate Leaders Institute, or Leadership Summit.

How do I recognize others for their leadership contributions?

Nominate a student for I am Grand Valley and other awards through the Student Life Awards (examples include most promising freshman, sophomore, and junior leader).

How do I get an I am Grand Valley t-shirt?

Nominees for I am Grand Valley receive a t-shirt annually in January. Note that you must RSVP for the I am Grand Valley Leadership Reception to actually receive one.

How do I get recognized for my contributions on campus?

Students are recognized on campus in a number of ways including the Student Life Awards (programming, organizational, and individual awards), I am Grand Valley, and more.
